I've been writing to various government agencies in the UK, looking for any sign of zombie awareness. No surprise, I'm getting zip back. Even my MP doesn't seem to answering me now. I think he is one step from getting a restraining order.
So, what do you do if the government has no emergency plans to deal with an undead outbreak.
Well, short of asking our US allies for a loan of 10,000 marines - we are all gonna have to go it alone.
One thing any American readers should note - people here in the UK don't really take storing food seriously. Everything is just a quick hop down to the supermarket.
We saw it during a recent petrol crisis - people were clearing the shops like it was the end of the world.
Got me thinking - when the Zeds arrive - you got what you got - if you are not stocked up & well-supplied - forget it.
I'm off the Tesco's now - I need to stock up on my dried goods & a 3 month supply of tea bags - this cat does not intend to get caught out.

Logistically we in the U.S. would not be able to help- especially if the outbreak was simultaneous across the globe IE the middle east- which is how infections take their course- The States would be completely shut down-

You're right mate. The Marines are wishful thinking. I also do think that any outbreak now would be global - mass transit air travel has made sure of that.

It's actually really pathetic, if there was ever any chance of an outbreak, of any real magnitude- because SARS and H1n1 would absolutely pale in comparison to a Zombie outbreak-the world would be ravaged within weeks- that's why it's up to concerned citizenry to take it upon themselves and formulate contingency plans. Like you said, air travel, international shipping, cross continental boating- there's just so many different ways in which a Zombie plague could manifest. Now, I am certainly not an Isolationist, I am sure to be the last one running around saying we've got to close our borders from unwanted/ illegal immigrants,because even if you could close the borders in time you're really just walling yourself into a land coffin-
ReplyDeleteSo the best thing to do is have a local/community based survival plan- really take it sub governmental- but just be careful they don't think you're a terrorist cell-
